Overview
If you are in the food business you must have heard the terms FSSAI license and FSSAI license renewal. FSSAI is an abbreviation used for Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. FSSAI license is mandatory before starting any food business. All the manufacturers, traders, restaurants who are involved in food business must obtain a 14-digit registration or a license number which must be printed on food packages with the FSSAI Logo.
Whenever you get the FSSAI certificate, it is issued with a validity of 1 year with the option of extending the validity of the license for up to 5 years. ONLINE FSSAI RENEWAL:
In order to do the FSSAI License Renewal online, a FBO has to perform the following steps:
Visit the government portal of the Food Licensing authority
Login/Sign up for an account
Apply for Renewal by clicking relevant links
Upload required documents
Upon successful submission of the application, you will be given an application reference number in order to keep track of the status of the application for the renewal of food license

OFFLINE FSSAI RENEWAL:
The process to renew your food license can be done offline by the following steps:
FSSAI License can be renewed by filing up the FORM A or FORM B based on the eligibility of the food business for a particular type of license
Attach a self-attested declaration required to comply with the regulations of the Food Safety and Standards Act
Authority receives your application, reviews and examines it and in accordance with the same, arranges for an inspection of the FBO?s operating premises.
Once, the inspection officer is satisfied with the compliance with the regulations of the FBO, they will pass the application and the report of the inspection
It will take approximately 60 days for the authorities to issue a renewal of the food license. If, in any case the FSSAI renewal is not issued within 60 days of submission of the application, the FBO can carry on their business operation without the renewal procedure.

In order to successfully renew their food license, an FBO must provide a few documentation. Here are the documents required with respect to the various eligibility criteria of the FSSAI Certificate.

Passport Size Photograph of Applicant
Identification Proof (voter ID or Aadhar Card)

Address Proof (Telephone or Mobile Bill/ Electricity or Gas Bill)

State FSSAI License Renewal:
The complete address and contact information of the List of Proprietors / Partners / Directors / Executive Members of society.
Latest Passport Sized Photograph of the Applicant.
Identification proof (Voter ID card or Aadhaar Card)
PAN Card
Partnership Deed/ MOA /AOA of the firm or Copy of Certificate obtained under Co-Operative Act, 1861 in case of Co-Operatives
Copy of Rent Agreement and NOC of landlord (if rented property)
NOC from the manufacturer (in case of Distributor) / NOC from Municipality or local body
An E-Code document issued by DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade)
Form IX Nomination of persons by a Company along with the Board Resolution

FSSAI License Renewal of Manufacturing and Processing Units:
Blueprint plan / Layout plan of the processing unit showing the dimensions in meters/square meters and operation-wise area allocation.
Name and List of Equipment and Machinery along with their number, installed capacity and horsepower used.
List of food category desired to be manufactured.
Letter of Authority from responsible person nominated by the manufacturer with name and address, along with alternative responsible person indicating the powers vested with them via assisting the officers in inspections, a collection of samples, packing & dispatch.
Report on Analysis (Chemical & Bacteriological) of water to be used as an ingredient in food from a recognized/ public health laboratory.

Penalty
If the FSSAI renewal application is not filed within the stipulated period, theFood business operator is charged with a penalty of Rs100 per day. Timely renewal is necessary, as an FSSAI license is considered expired if it is not renewed on time.
Hence the food business operator must get the food renewal license done on time. Renewal of license on a timely basis is essential to avoid the penalty and unnecessary hustles. FBO must apply for the renewal 30 days prior to the date of expiry of registration or license.
